Bear Wraps Bento

I decided to make something different for my boys' lunch last Monday. I made them chicken wraps for lunch. It's also lunch delivery day, so I thought these wraps will be easier for IT to eat before his CCA.

The bears are chicken patties which I shaped and coated with panko before shallow frying them. There are also cheddar and lettuce in the wraps.

The box behind contains golden kiwis and strawberries.

I spent some time this afternoon drawing sushi, it's been years since I last drew. I so want to pick up drawing again, but I don't know if I can find time to do so. -_-

Lego Bento

Lunchbox Dad made a lego lunch sometime back and I thought it was really cool and fun. I had wanted to make something similar because I know my boys would love to have a lunch like that. :)

I bought these Lego lunchboxes last year but this is the first time I'm using them. -_- The Legos are made from tamago and fish sausages. The Lego Men are frozen yoghurt. I removed them after the photo taking though, and served them in another container.

The other food in the bentos were chicken cutlets, grapes and strawberries. My boys were busy playing with the Lego Men and Legos in their bentos as they ate the other food first. -_-

IMG_7857
I also made Lego out of sandwiches. This time, I filled my Lego Men mould using chocolate instead.

IMG_7860
The sandwiches were filled with butter and sugar, one of their all time favourite combi.

We dropped by Legoland Malaysia during the recent June holidays. It's our second time there, but the weather was just as bad as our first trip. It was blazing hot initially, followed by heavy downpour in the late afternoon on both trips. Weather aside, my boys really enjoyed the park.

IMG_6967
I only have a few photos to share, since most of the photos have us in them, so I can't share. The photo above is a build your own Lego Man section, where you get to customize your very own Lego Man.

IMG_6973
My boys had fun building their own Lego Men to bring home.

Penguin Sushi Bento

I bought a deco sushi book sometime back. The main reason why I bought the book was because I fell in love with the penguin sushi on the front cover. :P Last Thursday, I finally decided to try out making some penguin sushi  by following the instructions in the book.

IMG_7805 - Copy
Here's how they turn out, not as good as the ones in the book but I happy enough. The grey portion of the rice has grinded black sesame seeds mixed in. Their beaks are tamago and their eyes are boiled spinach.

Here's a closer look at the penguins sushi. :)

This was the only bento I managed to pack for myself last week. There's egg and salmon flakes on the rice, other food in the bento were chicken wings, okra and zucchini. :)

Bathing Kids Inari Sushi Bento

The idea for the bento I'm sharing today comes from Pinterest. I have the image saved on my ipad since a long time back, was looking through the images I've saved for ideas last week and decided to make this. :)

IMG_7788
I filled the inari sushi with egg, tobikko and salmon flakes toppings. The kids are made from quail eggs. These were all done last Wednesday. :)

There's gyoza, golden kiwi and strawberries in the other box.

Here's a closer look at the quail eggs kids. :) If you don't take inari sushi, you can also use buns with fillings to make this. :)

Totoro Cat Bus Bento

If you have been following my blog, you would know that Totoro is one of my favourite character. I've always wanted to make a bento box with all the characters, but it has yet to be done since it's rather time consuming and I don't have the luxury to do so. I still hope to get it done one day. For now, I'm sharing a food art I made of the Cat Bus.

IMG_7762
Cat Bus is made from rice mixed with a bit of dark soya sauce. I could have done a better job with the mixing, I guess, some parts were a bit patchy. Details on the Cat Bus were done using nori, cheese and radish. Chibi Totoro is made from quail egg.

IMG_7773
The other food seen on the plate are ketchup meatballs, broccoli and strawberries.

Here's another view of the Cat Bus. :)

Animal Sandwich Bento

The cutter I'm using for today's post is kindly sponsored by Bento Berries. :)

IMG_7744
This is the set of animals cutter I received. I've been eyeing this set of cutter, so happy to receive it. It will definitely come in useful as most of my boys' bentos for School in the early morning are done using cutters. :)

IMG_7745
It can cut your bread and stamp kawaii animal faces on it at the same time. :)

IMG_7751
I used it to make some quick snacks for my boys. :)

IMG_7757
I added in some details using nutella, cheese and ham.

IMG_7786
I also made more and packed into their bento boxes. :)
