Nightmare Before Christmas Bento

I first made Jack Skellington, from The Nightmare before Christmas two years ago. You can click HERE to check it out. I made him again for Halloween this year, together with Sally. I will probably be making him again next year, maybe a full body version then?

IMG_9421
Jack is made from nori and rice. Sally is made from nori, rice, inari age, shredded carrot and strawberry.

IMG_9412
The sides in the other tier were wings braised in chu hou paste, lettuce, grapes and strawberries.

IMG_9424
Some of the nori cut outs were a little too fine, and can't seem to show up well in the previous two pictures. And I was still thinking it will look better with finer cut outs, bummer.

It's Halloween today, Happy Trick-or-Treating to those of you who are celebrating this occasion! I still have one last Hallween post to blog about tomorrow.

KiKi's Delivery Service

Do you know the anime flim, Kiki's Delivery Service? There is going to be a live adaption of the anime soon! I've always wanted to make Kiki, but somehow it did not materialize until last week. However, this version I'm sharing today is not the one I had always wanted to make. Hopefully I will find some time to make that next week.

IMG_9368
This version of Kiki is inspired by a Blythe doll I saw. The doll was dressed as Kiki for Halloween. :) I also saw a cute version of Kiki, have to make that one too. :)

IMG_9378
Kiki is made from rice, nori, cheese, strawberry, inari age and squid ink pasta. The sides for this lunch are teriyaki meatballs and asparagus/corn stir fry.

IMG_9374
A closer look at Kiki, her broom is made from asparagus and inari age. Can you spot JiJi? :)

Animal Palz Halloween Bat

I am sure many of you are familiar with the cuteZcute cutter. Recently, cuteZcute has just launched another versatile and adorable bento tool, Animal Palz.

IMG_9382
The Animal Palz can make mini pocket sandwiches, mold eggs and much more. There are 4 animals design in a pack, they are bat, panda, sheep and monkey.

IMG_9384
These are what you get in the pack. There is even a baby panda stamper, awwww, too cute. There are instructions at the back of the box on how to use the tools. If you need more help, hop over to cuteZcute site, there's a video demo there.

IMG_9389\\
I'm so happy to receive this tool from cuteZcute just before Halloween because the bat in the set is just perfect for a Halloween bento.

IMG_9395
I used the tool to make the bat pocket sandwich in front and the bat egg at the back.

IMG_9402
My boys asked to bring the bat sandwiches to school, so I made more and pack into another bento box for them.

Do you like this set too? I have a piece of good news for you. :) CuteZcute is kindly sponsoring a set for giveaway. The giveaway will be up on my blog tomorrow night and you can join after midnight. :)

Halloween Skeleton Toast

I'm sharing more easy Halloween ideas today. I made 2 versions of skeleton toast, both are not difficult to make. :)

IMG_9032
I used this oishii silicon food pen from CasaBento for one of my toast creation. It's just like a piping bag that allows you to draw on your food.

IMG_9033
It comes with 2 nozzles of different sizes and is made from food grade silicon. It can be heated up in the microwave. My favourite part is that it can open from the sides so it's easy to clean.

IMG_9349
I filled the pen with icing, and drew a skeleton on a slice of nutella toast.

IMG_9348
The skull is a piece of mashmallow. :)

IMG_9193
I also made a savory version of the skeleton using ham and cheese. I toasted the bread after placing the cheese and ham cut outs on top of it.

IMG_9195
My boys love them both, which one do you prefer? :)

Halloween Mummy Bear Pizza

Need some last minute Halloween ideas? I'm sharing a fast and very easy Halloween lunch idea, it's great as a snack too.

IMG_9355
Here you go, mummy bear pizza. My boys asked for pizza last week, so I thought of making them these.

IMG_9354
I used my cuteZcute cutters to cut out these bears. I did a tutorial on how to make bear pizza before, click HERE to see. These mummies bears are done almost the same way, I just added more strips of cheese on the top layer. I used blueberries for the eyes and nose, because my boys hate olives. I think olives will taste better since the pizza are savory.

IMG_9361
My boys asked for more of the pizza to bring to school. So, I made more and packed into their sandwich box. :)

Ghost and Pumpkin Quail Eggs

IT last exam paper is tomorrow, and school holidays will be in another two weeks plus. Yay, so glad exams are over, I've been tearing my hair out the past weeks, he is just so nonchalant over the revisions, only bucking up a little this week. I can't wait for the holidays. :) I'll be slowing down a little with my bento making and blogging after next week, it's always a little slow moving in the 'bento world' every year end.:)

IMG_9175
A very quick Halloween decor, using quail eggs. The sunny side up quail eggs were made into jack-o'-lanterns and the hard boiled ones were turned into friendly ghosts. :)

IMG_9178
The main dish is yakisoba, stir fried with broccoli and pork. Hee, I know broccoli is not the typical veggie used for yakisoba, I was just trying to use whatever veggie I had in the fridge.

IMG_9181
I also packed in fried fish fillets, which I kept from dinner the night before. Toasted it in the oven before packing in the bento. :)
