Halloween Ghost Bento

I normally don't post on weekends, decided to blog today because I had wanted to do so yesterday, but was too tired from revising with IT. IT's exams are next week, having mixed feelings, there's still so much more for us to revise and yet I can't wait for the exams to be over.

I'm sharing some ways to create a ghost, a friendly one, for Halloween. :) This one was using crepes, you can use wraps too.

There was teriyaki chicken, cheese and lettuce under the crepes.

IMG_9077
I rolled up the rest of the crepes and cut them in half.

Another ghost creation, this time using egg sheet. The bow on top is made from ham.

There's salmon fried rice under the egg sheet. :)

Bee Bento

The idea for the bee is from the cover of Kaerenmama's new book. I mixed some yellow grains from the colored rice pack from Daiso, but the yellow color is not obvious. I wonder whether mixing with egg yolk will give a nicer yellow color.

Ladybug Bento

I love the colors of these cherry tomatoes, today I used them to make ladybugs. Only problem is the boys do not like them, IT ate half a tomato yesterday with this "painful" expression on his face. lol. LT refused to have any. Today, they both fed the tomatoes to me. Yes, they just took the tomatoes and pop them in my mouth. Haiz. The making kids take food they do not want through Charaben never worked on my kids. :(

COLA CHICKEN RECIPE

Ingredients:
12 wings
5 slices ginger
3 tbsp soya sauce
1 tbsp dark soya sauce
1 tbsp rice wine
1 can coke

Method:
  1. Heat some oil in wok (or pan), saute ginger until fragrant.
  2. Add chicken wings, saute and continue to cook until lightly brown.
  3. Pour in the seasoning and coke. Bring to a boil and continue to cook for 20 to 25 minutes, uncovered, or until sauce thickens and chicken wings are carmeralized. Add more water if necessary.
Note: You can also substitute chicken with pork ribs. And you can also substitute soya sauce and wine with Hoisin sauce.

Snoopy and Woodstock Bento

The bento today was inspired by my sis's dog. She's really clever, just tell her 'find Snoopy' and she'll pick up her Snoopy soft toy and bring to you. :) So I decided to make Snoopy for the boys' bentos. However, the proportion seems a bit off, can you tell it's Snoopy?? :)

Snoopy bentos for today. :)

Thanks to a fellow bento Mummy on facebook who shared with me about making the crepe the day before and just heating them up the following morning. I made a batch of crepe last night. This morning the boys had them for breakfast, and I packed a crepe for IT's recess. I still had some crepes left over, so I had them for my lunch and tea.
