Chick Bento & Cup Noodles Museum

The chick in today's bento is called Hiyoko-Chan, it's the mascot for Chickin Ramen. We saw this cute little chick during our recent trip to Cup Noodles Museum. We visited the newly opened one in Yokohama. I'll share some pictures of the museum in this post, the boys had lots of fun customising their very own cup noodles. :)

Six picks in a pack, and 4 different designs. :) I actually have another bento in mind for these picks, I'll share next week. They seemed to suit today's bentos too, so I decided to use them first.


Hiyoko-Chan on top of instant noodles. Lol, I thought instant noodles will be most appropriate for a Hiyoko-Chan bento.


Instant noodles are stir-fried with pork and broccoli. I added grapes and strawberries as well.


And here's the inspiration for my chick today, it's a lot cuter than my version, I think I placed the chick's eyes a little too close on my bento. And pardon the picture, I did not have a picture of just Hiyoko-Chan, so I had to crop us out from the photo.


The boys drawing on their very own cup noodles. They can decorate it in whichever way they like. :)

After it's done, they brought it over to the counter to fill it with noodles.


They get to choose the soup base and 4 ingredients.


The staff will fill up the cup noodles with their chosen ingredients.


Sealing it up. Almost done, but one more step to go.


Pumping air into the plastic bag that holds the cup noodles. And they could sling this on their shoulder. The boys could not wait to eat the cup noodles, and they had it for supper that very night.

The museum had this food court that serves noodles from different countries. We were quite skeptical about the food but surprisingly the noodles tasted quite good.


We all chose the noodles we wanted, they come in small servings. IT chose Korean cold noodles.


LT wanted pasta.


I had beef noodles.


Daddy chose this, I forgot what it was, mee goreng I think. The sambal was surprisingly nice.


We were still not full after the noodles since it was not the usual full serving. We were craving for ramen. So, we went down to Ramen Museum for more noodles.


Even the ticketing machine is so nogalistic looking, as compared to the usual ones.


A big bowl of ramen to satisfy my cravings. It was very delicious, slurp. Post ended up with more photos than I anticipated but hope you enjoyed looking at them. I'm so very hungry now, I wished I've a bowl of ramen right now. :P

Elmo & Cookie Monster Bento

Elmo and Cookie Monster did not appear in the same bento, lol. They were done on different days. They are both really simple and fast to make, give it a try if you are looking for a fast way to add a character in your bento.

Sesame Street picks, which Bento With Yenn sent me as a gift. They added the finishing touch to my Elmo and Cookie Monster bento. Check out her very nicely done up site for lots more cute bento stuff. :)

Just fill up silicon cup with some rice, add on cheese and nori for Cookie Monster. The rice was coloured with butterfly pea flower, love the nice blue natural colour. The other food in the bento are teriyaki salmon, broccoli, grapes and strawberries.


The boys had this for snack yesterday.:)


And for Snack today, they had Elmo sausage buns. Just cut out 2 circles and an oval, add in nori, and you get an Elmo sausage. :)


I packed in some grapes and strawberries too. :)

Back To School Bento

I had insomnia last night, even though it's not me who's starting School, lol. I went to bed at the same time as the boys but just could not sleep. All went well today, I hope I can sleep better tonight.

This School bus bento was actually made in early December, before I left for Tokyo, for a magazine. IT ate this while LT had a Christmas themed bento then. The bus is made from short grained brown rice, cheese, crabstick, ham and nori. The bows on the girls are cake sprinklers. The bento is packed with chicken teriyaki, broccoli, grapes and strawberries.


I made a variation for their lunch today. This time I wrapped the rice with egg sheet, and replaced the children with Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori. The other food are teriyaki meatballs, broccoli, grapes and strawberries.


The boys do not take the School bus to School though, I am still sending and fetching them to and from School. And for this first day, I walked with IT to School, instead of driving him, and it was an enjoyable short walk. We will probably do this every morning unless it rains. :)
