Birthday Bento

It was LT's sixth birthday on Monday. Time flies so fast it's scary at times, it seemed like only yesterday he was still a newborn in my arms. Next year, he will be joining IT in primary School. He is still very much our baby, and still enjoys being so, lol.

I decided to make something simple this time, I layered sushi rice with smoked salmon and egg to make a sushi cake. :)

I decorated the top layer with tobiko, smoked salmon and a mashed potato piggy. LT is born in the year of the pig, so I can't resist making a piggy on his birthday.

The birthday boy showing you the layers for his cake. It's much faster and easier to make than my past birthday bentos creations, I think I will just make variations of this for their birthday next time.

LT requested for the usual strawberry shortcake for his birthday. He chose this One Piece design for the icing sheet.

I baked these chocolate ganache cuppies for his friends in School. LT chose Spiderman toppers for the boys and Hello Kitty toppers for the gals and his teachers. :)

Piggy in Curry

I was planning to finish up this post after putting my boys to bed last night, and catch some Kimchi dramas after that. But I ended up falling asleep instead. -_-

I made these piggies in minced pork curry for my boys last Thursday. The piggies were made from rice coloured with Sakura denbu, and the details were done with ham and nori.

There's also broccoli, grapes and strawberries.

I made both plates slightly different, this was for LT.

This one is for IT and has slightly more rice. :)

Piglet Sushi

If you remember, I mentioned I will be making Piglet sushi, when I was sharing my Pooh Bear sushi. And so I did, made them for my boys' lunch last Wednesday. :)

Pink portion of rice was coloured with Sakura denbu. Details on piglet was done with ham and nori.

The side dishes were teriyaki chicken, broccoli and strawberries.

A close up shot of the sushi. IT asked why I made a pink Pooh, lol. Oppsie, looks like I did not do a good job on the sushi. :p

Bumble Bee Rilakkuma Bento

Daddy just left for Taiwan for a work trip and will be back on Friday. It's been sometime since he last travelled for work. I will have to drag LT out of bed earlier these few days to send IT to School. Other than that, I guess it does not make a huge difference since I'm alone with my boys for most part of the weekdays anyway.

Last Tuesday, I made Rilakkuma dressed as a bee for my boys' lunch. :)

Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma pretending to be bees, lol. The bee headpiece is made from egg sheet. The antennae are two bento picks. It's a fairly simple bento. :)

I've also packed in grilled wings, grapes, broccoli and strawberries. :)

Mr Happy Bento

There's still four days more before the School holidays, but it feels like holiday since IT's last paper on Monday. :p I've been slowing down in my bento making as well, since last week. And I will be slowing down even more during the holidays, probably just doing some toast art or soup art, and I hope to do some baking. :)

Mr Happy bento from last Monday, because I was happy that day that the exams are over, lol. Mr Happy is rice coloured with mashed egg yolk.

The side dishes were ginger pork, broccoli, grapes and strawberries. :)

Totoro on Soup

It has been a relaxing week since the exams are over. We have gotten back IT's exam results. He has done very well for his Mathematics and Science but his English and Chinese results are below our expectations. Looks like we have to work on those two subjects. Overall, We are still happy with his results. :)

I'm going to hold a 500th post giveaway next Tuesday. The giveaway post will be up on Monday night and you can join after midnight. There will be lots of goodies, so do join in if you are interested.

I'm sharing some soup art which I made last week. Both creations features my favourite Totoro. This was pumpkin soup. Totoro is made from toasted bread, cheese and nori.

A close up shot. :p

It's a holiday here tomorrow, happy long weekend! :)
