Sausage Mr Potato Head

I did not update the blog yesterday because I went to bed instead, lol. I've been feeling rather tired lately as I've been sleeping late every day. I practically have to drag myself out of bed every morning, and I always tell myself I should sleep earlier that night. But when night comes, I end up sleeping late again. I finally turned in early yesterday and sleep at the same time as my boys.

I made this simple salmon fried rice for my boys' lunch last Wednesday. The prawn paste chicken wings were kept from dinner the night before, my boys love eating them . And so do I. I reheated the wings in the oven for them.

I made Mr Potato Head using sausages to decorate their lunch. The details were done using cheese, ham, carrot, nori, edamame and strawberry. Mr Potato Head is a character in the movie Toy Story. I've made a rice version of him before, click HERE to see.

I'm sharing the recipe for our favourite prawn paste wings below. Hope you like it too. :)

PRAWN PASTE CHICKEN RECIPE

Ingredients:
500g chicken wings
2 tbsp Lee Kum Kee fine shrimp sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp ginger juice (grate ginger and squeeze the pulp to get the juice)
1 tsp rice wine
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup corn flour

Method:
  1. Marinade chicken wings with all ingredients except cornflour for at least an hour. You can leave it to marinade overnight as well.
  2. Just before deep frying, pour in corn flour. Stir in to coat evenly till it is dissolved in the marinade and forms a sticky coat on the chicken.
  3. Deep fry till golden brown.
Note:
  • I've not tried other brands of shrimp sauce, so I'm not sure whether they will work with this recipe

Totoro Soboro Bento

It's been some time since I last make a soboro charaben, so I decided to make one last Thursday. This time I made my favourite Totoro. :) Please click HERE for the soboro recipe if you need one. :)

IMG_8391
The details on Totoro are done with sausage, cheese, nori and soba. I layered more of the soboro underneath the rice. I also packed in some gyoza, broccoli, grapes and strawberries.

It's a fast charaben to do, give it a try if you are looking for something easy. :)

Cow Bento

I think I've never made a cow for my charabens before, if my memory does not fails me. Anyway, I finally made them last week, I've both the rice and sandwich version to share with you.

IMG_8371
Cows are made from rice, nori, Kamaboko and ham.

IMG_8372
I packed salmon belly, lettuce and strawberries in the bentos. :)

IMG_8385
The sandwich versions are tuna mayo and cheddar sandwiches which I sealed using a round mould.

IMG_8384
I used cheese, instead of Kamaboko, and added in a tail for this version. :)

Snow White Bento

It's Monday again, one of my busiest day of the week. I always have to drag myself out of bed every Monday, because I feel so tired. -_- Hope you aren't feeling the same as me. I've some Snow White creations from last week to share.

IMG_8357
Snow White and witch are made from rice coloured with a dab of ketchup. The witch's hat is made from cheese and nori. Snow White's bow is made from crabstick, and her hair is made from cheese and nori.

IMG_8356
I also packed chicken karaage, lettuce, golden kiwis and strawberries in the bento.

IMG_8434
I also made this very simple bread version, cut out using CuteZcute.

IMG_8432
This is a combi of cream cheese and Nutella spread, and her bow is made from strawberry. The apple she is holding is a tomato. :)
