Despicable Me Minion Bento

I still have two Hello Kitty bentos to share before this, but since the Minions from Despicable Me are all the rage this week, I reckon these fellas deserve to cut the queue and make their appearance on the blog first. :P


Minions are rice coloured with mashed egg yolk. Their overalls are egg sheet coloured with blue colouring. The rest of the details were done with cheese and nori.


The other dishes that I packed are hamburg steak, broccoli, lettuce, grapes and strawberries.


I also made bread balls Minions for my boys' snack boxes, using corn bread. :)


I've two more easy Minions creations to share, but I guess there are enough Minions in this post, I'll share them next week instead. :)


I packed the same hamburg steak in my bento, and added in spinach, bean sprouts, tamago, cucumbers, bean sprouts and radish.

Jiji Cat Bento

The character for the bentos I'm sharing today is Jiji, from Kiki's delivery service.


I made these on Monday. A simplified version of Jiji, cut out from seaweed. The bow is made from sausage.


Bento is packed with Shio-koji pork, broccoli, strawberries and blueberries. I just started marinating with Shio-koji during the recent holidays, love how it brings out the umami in food. It can basically be used to replace salt, taste mildly sweet and salty, and imparts a rich savory flavour that makes your dish yummy. It's also healthy and tenderlize your meat.


I missed eating bentos after having ate out for most of the School holidays. I packed the same Shio-koji pork in my bento. :)

Road Trip Bento

I'm sharing a food art I made just before we left for our road trip on the last week of School holidays.


We are going to a beach, so I cut out a coconut tree from bread. I had wanted to use other food to cut out the tree, but I could not find any other suitable food in my fridge. It was during the dreaded haze days when we were stuck at home most of the time.


The car is a peanut butter sandwich, with grape wheels, and the road is made from pasta. The idea from this comes from Barebarnematen, she makes really awesome food art!


I dug out my Yotsuba and Danboard toys in storage and brought them along on my trip, it has been a long time since I last took photos of them. I took some shots of them at Legoland and at the beach. I will share the Legoland shots in another post. I'm planning to make a Lego bento. :)


This one is my favourite shot out of the lot. :)

FunBites Triangles

FunBites sent me their newly launched triangle cutter during the School holidays. And I will be having another one for a giveaway. Giveaway will be up tomorrow night and will start after midnight. :)


This cutter can cut out 10 triangles easily into bite size pieces. It works the same way as their Hearts and Squares cutters. I've done a review on the Squares before, you can read about it HERE.


We had some fun with the cut outs before eating them. I arranged them into fish.


My boys wanted to try too. IT made this, he says it's a rocket.


LT did this one, and he says he made a robot.


I cut out some cubes using the Squares cutter, combined with the triangle cut outs, and ta-dah, it turned into this windmill. Lol, or more like a giant fan.

Windmill presented on a plate for our snacks. The clouds were made from scrambled eggs, and tulips were cut out from tomatoes. :)

Lion Pasta Bento

My apologies that this post is only up today, instead of last Friday as I've mentioned. I've been too busy after returning back from our short holiday on Friday. -_- It's back to School again today, after our four weeks break. I hate turning the alarms on again!

For today's post, I am reviewing another product I received from Trudeau Corp. :) The bentos were done before I left for my trip.


This is the Duo stainless steel food container. It is made from high grade stainless steel and can keep your food hot/cold for 5 hours. The capacity for this is 10oz. It's BPA free, made from eco friendly materials and comes with a 5 years warranty.


It comes with a 2 part lid that can be used as a dry snack container, and a foldable spoon as well. The top cover can also be used as a cup to pour your soup from the thermal container.


I packed some meatballs pasta in the containers. I wrapped the meatballs with cheese and decorated them as lions. I always find it more difficult to pack a charaben in a thermal container. Most of the time, I pack an undecorated lunch in thermal containers. Do you feel the same too?


My boys do use thermal containers to bring food to School pretty often. I usually pack cold soba or hot soupy noodles for them, so I am really happy with these containers from Trudeau. They are a good size for my boys and will keep their food cold/hot for them at recess.


I've received some emails on where to get Trudeau products in Singapore. You can find them at departmental stores like Takashimaya, Metro and John Little.
