Stitch Bento

It's not the first time I made Stitch, the boys prefer a fierce looking Stitch, but Mummy me prefers the cute version, which is easier to make as well. Oh well, maybe next time, I'll take up the challenge and attempt a really fierce looking one. :)

Bento for LT to bring to School, same food as above, except he's having strawberry jam bread. I thought this Stitch looks fiercer, but the boys say it's not fierce enough. They also asked why is he in this colour? Lol. :P

My old boxes and new ones. :) The plastic boxes are old ones, dug them out from the back of my cupboard. The wooden ones are new, been drooling over Rakuten's wooden boxes for almost a year, finally bought them. The ones I wanted were way too expensive though, so I settled for this cheaper range. :)

Quail Egg Panda Bento

Cold soba for the boys today, decorated with pandas made from quail eggs. It's fast and simple to do, which left me with some time in the morning to do up a tutorial. So, hope you will find it useful if you want to try it out. :)

IMG_9405
Boil Kamaboko ( Japanese fish cake) and quail egg. I sliced off the top pink layer of the kamaboko.

IMG_9407
Punch out 2 circles from the white portion of the Kamaboko. That will be the Panda's ears.

IMG_9411
Punch out round circles from the seaweed using a seaweed puncher, I'm using a Doreamon puncher for this. After that, stick the seaweed on the cut out kamaboko. It sticks pretty well for mine, but if you have problems with it, you can add a dab of mayo.

IMG_9412
Attach on the ears with pasta.

IMG_9416
Cut a long black strip and wrap around the panda's body.

IMG_9417
Cut out ovals from the kamaboko and attach onto Panda's body with pasta.

IMG_9418
I use this puncher to get Panda's eyes and mouth. :)

IMG_9419
Cut out 2 circles from the pink kamaboko and use pasta to pin onto Panda's cheeks. There, it's done. :)

IMG_9422
Here's another version, slightly simpler and I think I like it better. I left the hands out and used Wilton's decorating gel as the blusher instead.

IMG_9429
Bento for LT, in the box are cold soba, quail eggs, breaded prawns, strawberries and grapes.

Scallop Bruchettes for me, saw this fusion recipe online the other day and I just had to try it. Mine's a simplified version, just using what I can find in my fridge. The recipe calls for sashimi grade scallops, but I only had frozen ones. Hop over HERE for the recipe if you are interested, it's in chinese though, but there are pictures and the ingredients are listed in English.

Racing Car Bento

I'm having Tuesday blues, lol. We went to check out the new POLW at Sentosa yesterday, and I think we are all feeling a little tired today and had to drag ourselves out of bed.

Another set of bentos inspired by an occupation they did at Baby Boss. Racing car drivers this time.

IMG_9396
Bento for IT, in the box are multi-grained rice, chicken balls, pork roll, golden kiwis, strawberries and grapes.

IMG_9393
Bento for LT, same food as above. Mini cars are edamane. :)

Vroom, vroom...... :)

The boys as race car drivers at Baby Boss. But they were only given remote control cars to race with. :P They were not complaining though, in fact, they told me they had most fun at this occupation.

IMG_9202
POLW that we checked out yesterday.

IMG_9309
There were a few play areas inside.

IMG_9305
This was the highlight, the boys had a blast there. We will definitely be going back again. :)

And my lunch to end the post, had Ang Chao mee sua (red fermented wine noodles) today.

Star Wars Bento

Today is May the 4th, and it's Star Wars Day. :) Lol, no I did not know that this day exists, I'm not really a Star Wars fan, I learnt about it from the ladies at Bento Bloggers group. So I'm joining in the fun, by making Star Wars bentos and linking up for Star Wars bento hop. :) Remember to click on the logo at the end of the post to go on a 'May the 4th be with you' blog hop. :)

IMG_9198
Bento for IT's recess, in the box are nutella bread, grilled wings and grapes. I did not come up with this idea for storm trooper, I stole the idea from this bento. I was googling for Star Wars ideas and fell in love it, so I replicate the same idea with seaweed and flattened bread. :)

Mushroom bruschetta for me. :) Next Monday is a School holiday over here, so I'll be back again on Tuesday. :)

Whale Bento

I've quite a collection of cupcake toppers and bento picks, but I am very guilty to say that I don't make good use of them. Same goes for those cutters I own. So, I'm trying to make use of them more. And this Whale bento came about because I wanted to make use of my whale cutter and my nautical and sea creatures picks. :)

And for me, salad in balsamic dressing and beancurd chicken.

Do you like my new blog look? The boys and I love the new header, and I love all the dots and laces, lol. :)

Dinosaur Fossil Bento

I'm continuing the theme from yesterday, though this one is not exactly an occupation they did at Baby Boss. They wanted to be archaeologists, but the work station was closed that day, so they went to the one beside it and tried out mining instead. :)

IMG_9170
Bento for IT, in the box are baked pasta, fries, strawberries and grapes. Can you see the dinosaur fossil on the pasta? Did not really turned out well, I added too much cheese. -_-

IMG_9169
Bento for LT, same food as above. :)

IMG_9172
Bento for IT's recess, same food as above.

IMG_9165
Upon seeing the bentos, the boys told me it's a boy digging in the playground and he dug out a dinosaur fossil. It's the exact same story I had in mind. :)

IMG_8773
After that, we could only watch them on a screen.

IMG_8782
The boys as miners, taking a lift to go underground. This was the only clear shot I took of them.

IMG_9173
And I had the same lunch as them, except I had salad instead of fruits. :)
