Totoro Sausage on Bread Cup Bento

It's been some time since I last made bread cups. I did a tutorial on how to make them before, click HERE if you are interested. :) I decorated the bread cups with sausage totoros, can't take credit for these, I've seen them before on a few Japanese sites and I always wanted to make them. :) I managed to take some step-by-step photos, hope you will find them useful. :)

Totoro and susuwatari for today's bentos. The fillings for the bread cups are salmon. I lightly salt salmon, steamed it and then flaked it with a fork. After that, I mixed it with some mayo before filling up the bread cups.

I also packed in broccoli, strawberries and grapes. The boccoli are hiden under the strawberries.

I made two bread cups for myself too. :)

To make the Totoro, start off by boiling a sausage.
IMG_5248
Slice sausage in half.

IMG_5250
Using a round cutter, make an imprint on the sausage and cut it out using knife or scissors.

IMG_5251
Use the same cutter to cut out cheese.

IMG_5253
Cut out ears using a pair of scissors. Make a slit on the top of the sausage so that you can insert in the ears.

IMG_5254
Using a small round cutter or straw, cut out cheese for the eyes.

Add on pasta for whiskers, and I used those punchers shown in the picture to punch out nori.

There, completo! Another quick way to decorate your bento. :)
