Bear in Soup Bento

This was inspired by my bento friend's creation, she made a doggy in a bowl of soup. However, she warned me that the rice grains will break apart very fast in the hot soup. Thanks to her advice, after I moulded the bear, I pan fried it with some oil and brushed on some soya sauce till a crust is formed. This way, the onigiri was able to hold its shape. :)

Bears soaking in miso soup. The other dishes for dinner were tonkatsu, stir-fried salmon with broccoli and ebikko mayo prawns. :) The bear behind looks like he is drowning, lol. :P

A closer shot. :)

This is my portion for dinner. Daddy's dinner is similar to the boys', a slightly bigger portion and served with plain white rice, instead of the grilled onigiri bear. :P

I bought this for the boys to play. It's actually gummy candy.

The instructions were all in Japanese. -_- I found this Youtube video that's very helpful. :)

has been visiting your page and admiring your bentos! ha! you are so diligent. i like all of your latest creations. they just look so real and cute!
but i wonder if my kids will like soy sauce in their sushi rice? will try out next time so that they can have a more real-like rilakkuma in their bento boxes.

i m still resting. will start to make bentos again from next week when my elder one return to school for early school re-open. (",)

    1. Tks, TM. Lol, I missed making bentos, tt's why. :) For this, the soy sauce is just brushed out while grilling, taste is quite subtle. Or u can also add dark soya sauce, just one, two drops will do, tt one can't taste at all. :) Wow, tt's early, I'm still enjoying the break. :)
