Sausage Penguin Bento

I made penguins out of sausage to decorate my boys' bentos. Today's post comes with a tutorial. It's really easy to make, you probably can do it without any tutorial. But I still did one anyway, because I had time to spare, since they can be done rather fast, lol. :P

Penguins sitting on ebikko pasta. The bentos are also packed with cola chicken, broccoli and strawberries.

Maybe not such a good idea to put the penguins on top of the ebikko, turned out rather messy. :P

Tried to make a heart shape on my pasta with ebikko, but accidentally spilled some, Hiaz. -_- There's cola chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes stir-fried in balsamic vinegar.

Penguins for their snack boxes on a different day. The penguins here are made from mini taiwan sausages.

I shifted the penguins after that so that the box will close well. :P

So here's how to make these sausage penguins. :)
IMG_3509
Do not boil your sausage first. Slice sausage in half.

Make an inverted 'U' cut using knife or scissor. I did mine with a pair of scissor. Then make two slanted cut as shown in the white line in the picture.

Boil sausage. After it's cooked, attach on corn using pasta.

Here's the puncher I used for their eyes.

Here's another version, you can also use an oval shaped cutter to cut cheese for their tummies instead. :)

Ta-dah! Completo! :)

  4. These penguins are amazing! Maybe making them is easy but before every bento we need an idea and this one is great. Punchers are really helpful. I hope that one day they'll be in my stores.
    Everything looks colorful and delicious.
PS. Sorry for the curious question, but where are you from? :D

  9. The penguins look really adorable. Where can we find such small sausages? Is any particular brand good?

    1. Hui Kheng, Tk u, the ones in the tutorial are from GoGo Franks. Google for ur nearest outlet, I went to the one at Vivo. :) If u want small round sausages, that is the only brand I found here. Alternative will be mini Taiwan sausages, the ones I used in their snack boxes (see pic above).
