Elmo and Cookie Monster Bento

I made Universal Studios Japan's version of Elmo and Cookie Monster today. Love this version because it's very easy to make and yet look cuter than the original version. :)

Blue rice coloured with butterfly pea flower and red rice coloured with beetroot.

The usual sandwiches for School, with fillings they requested, packed with grapes and meat patty.

Same colouring ingredients used to make the bread. But the beetroot version was more towards a faint brown instead, will have to experiment on that again. :)

  2. Super cute Elmos. Love them and not the Elmo song keeps playing in my head:) Where do you get the food coloring that you use for your rice? I like the idea 'cause it is natural.

    1. Lol, tks, Rina. The butterfly pea flower Is dried flower, when u soak it in hot water, you get a dark blue colour. The locals use it to make 'kueh'. I use the dark blue water to cook the rice n make the bread. It's available at some baking supplies shop n tea supplies shops here. Mine was from my mum, who plucked them off someone's house in Malaysia, lol.

    1. Not sure if its a must, but my mum did dry them for a couple of hrs in the sun b4 freezing them. I just soak in boiling water to get the blue water.
